"Soapstone is a raw material found only in Brazil and some countries in southern Africa. It is extremely soft and thus appropriate for sculpture, in shades that range from almost colorless to green to brown. This stone is found principally in the state of Minas Gerais.

"I became acquainted with soapstone in 1992, I was immediately enchanted with its texture and beauty, and learned to sculpt it.

"It is satisfying that everyone can possess products made from this wonderful material; when I see that my customers are content, I find it very rewarding. Everything I have achieved has been through this work. It is my dream to build a business offering only soapstone articles. I believe that through Novica, this dream is already coming true."
